Tulip Time

After yet another week of unseasonably cold weather, we are not seeing as many blooms as we normally do for TULIP TIME! Luckily this weekend will still be packed with activities—crafts, tours, Music in the Garden hot jazz performance, and more—and hopefully more tulips will make their appearance due to the warmer weather forecasted for this weekend!

Saturday, April 21 & Sunday, April 22

Experience spring with a visit to QBG during Tulip Time!, celebrating a flower that is emblematic of the long tradition of immigrants coming to this great, diverse city. View over 20,000 tulips that were planted as bulbs last year during this family-friendly day filled with activities, tours, and live music.

  • Learn about the history of tulips, which were first cultivated in Persia (present-day Iran), and view the different varieties blooming on our tulip tours.
  • Join our botanical immigrants tour, inspired by the story of the tulip, to learn about the global origins of plants within our collections and how they’re used in different cultures throughout the world.
  • Make tulip-themed crafts and origami that will allow the whole family to take a piece of the garden home.
  • Paint the tulips and learn the art of watercolor in a workshop,* led by Taiwanese artist Chemin Hsiao. *Additional fee required.
  • Sit amongst the tulips with a garden Jazz concert as we kick off our monthly Music in the Garden concert series.
