Website Redesign for Queens Botanical Garden
Queens Botanical Garden is seeking a qualified vendor to conduct a comprehensive website redesign. Last designed in 2018, the website serves as another dimension of the Garden by highlighting its collections, programs, and services, and communicates QBG’s mission and vision which are grounded in principles of sustainability.
Key Elements for Consideration:
- Communicate QBG’s brand as the place where people, plants, and cultures meet through the creative use of color, text, photos, interviews, video clips, animation, and other interactive media as per our branding guidelines.
- Using responsive web design standards, rebuild and redesign the site so that it is informational, economical, easily maintained by staff, and flexible in order to accommodate growth and change, with clear purpose and quality content, excellent user experience and interface (UI), fast load times, and intuitive navigation.
- Incorporate WCAG standards as well as capability for language translation.
- Include a robust, easy-to-navigate calendar that allows users to view upcoming events and programs by multiple categories
- Encourage support for the Garden by providing for on-line membership purposes and contributions, including the capability to pay by credit card and other methods
- Facilitate participation in fee-based Garden programs and activities by providing for on-line workshop registrations, photo permit purchases, facility rentals, and other earned income and program opportunities. Currently the Garden uses multiple platforms which are linked to from the website.
- Leverages and integrates SEO to drive traffic and includes analytics tools.
- Has an archive/on-line pressroom that provides members of the press with access to the latest and archival press releases, articles and newsletters as well as other materials.
- Ensure the ability for users to sign up for our e-newsletter mailing list throughout the website and incorporate functionality to create and manage forms directly on the website for purposes such as surveys, registration, etc.
- Content Migration: Transfer all existing pages, posts, and media from the current site to the redesigned platform without data loss.
The vendor will work with QBG staff to organize provided site content to effectively communicate the Garden’s story, offerings, and mission. Currently, QBG uses WordPress, but other CMS can be considered. For more information, visit this link.
