Queens Botanical Garden Board of Trustees Welcomes New Member Nancy Shannon, VP of Human Resources at Con Edison

Flushing, NY— November 2019 — In this month of thanks, Queens Botanical Garden’s (QBG) Board of Trustees is thrilled to welcome new member Nancy Shannon, VP of Human Resources at Con Edison.  A Queens resident with over thirty years of managerial and leadership experience in the areas of Human Resources, Environment, Healthy and Safety, and Customer Operations, Ms. Shannon will play an important role helping to advance QBG’s mission in her three-year term.  

”I’m so happy to welcome Nancy to Queens Botanical Garden’s Board of Trustees,” said Pauline Huang, QBG Board Chair. “She will bring a lot to of expertise to our Board initiatives. We are going to do some wonderful things together for the Garden!”

More about Nancy Shannon

Nancy Shannon is currently the Vice President of Human Resources at Con Edison. She is responsible for the company’s Human Resources organization which includes Employee Benefits, Compensation, Employee and Labor Relations, Human Resources Support, and the Employee Wellness Center. She is also a member of the company’s Named Fiduciary Committee and is the Plan Administrator for the Consolidated Edison Retirement Plan and the Consolidated Edison Thrift Savings Plan. Nancy joined Con Edison in July 1989. She has held positions of increasing responsibility in a variety of operating and support positions including: Director of the Employee Wellness Center, Director of Environmental Health and Safety Field Operations (EH&S); Queens Meter Operations Manager; and Benefits and Compensation Manager.  Nancy earned a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from St. John’s University and a Master’s degree in Industrial/Organizational psychology from Baruch College. Nancy currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Substance Abuse Program Administrators Association (SAPAA). She was a recipient of the YWCA-NYC Academy of Women Leaders for her work to establish a work-based learning partnership between Con Edison’s Chemical Laboratory and the Summit School (whose students have emotional and learning challenges).
