Perfect weather on Tuesday, July 18 for the annual Members’ Picnic
Guests described their evening as peaceful, beautiful, and relaxing.
This year we opened up the Wedding Garden for guests to stroll and enjoy a drink. Since this garden is typically reserved for ceremonies, it was the first time most Members stepped foot inside!
A bar was set up at the far end; infused waters, gin + tonic, and white wine sangria were served. All included delicious spearmint, harvested fresh from the QBG Farm. Scroll down for the recipes to make yours at home!
For 2017’s Members’ Picnic we encouraged folks to pack a picnic!
Tasty spreads were spotted around the Garden. Some guests brought hot Chinese food from local restaurants. This year’s favorite place to picnic was in the Annual Garden, which was recently renovated to include 80 new rose plants!
Queens Botanical Garden offers the Members’ Picnic and other exclusive Member events as a thank-you for supporting the Garden. This year, Members get to enjoy TWO free after-hours events. Coming up on Friday, August 18, 6 to 8pm, Members will enjoy an intimate viewing of Taiwan: A World of Orchids without the crowds. Orchid Evening will include a cash bar and light snacks for sale. An orchid-themed craft for all ages will be a highlight of the evening. Learn more.

Gin + Tonic
2 ounces gin
Muddle lime slice and spearmint leaves in cup with gin
Top with tonic
White Wine Sangria
½ ounce simple syrup (optional)
Muddle lime slice, lemon slice, and spearmint leaves in cup with simple syrup
Fill with Chardonnay wine (or white wine of your choosing!)
Top with seltzer
