Commemorating Indigenous Peoples’ Day

Monday, October 10, 11:00 am to 3:00 pm

Join us as we commemorate Indigenous Peoples’ Day on October 10, 2022 to acknowledge that the land on which Queens Botanical Garden is situated is the traditional land of the Matinecock people, the first people of Flushing, Queens. Read our official Living Land Acknowledgement. The Garden will be open from 8am to 6pm with some special activities taking place 11am to 3pm (see below). We also encourage you to attend one of the many indigenous-led events in the area, including Randall’s Island’s event.

Free Admission

On this day, our Garden Admission is waived. We ask those who are able to make a “pay what you wish” donation. Donations will support indigenous groups through Niamuck Land Trust and Shinnecock Kelp Farmers, as well as sustainable land and water stewardship at QBG. To donate to this cause, click below:

Go on a self-guided tour with our new native plant guide.
Pick-Up Locations: Main Street & Parking Garden entrances and QBG Store

11am  & 1pm • Farm Tours
Learn about indigenous farming practices, heirloom corn, and food sovereignty and stewardship.

12 & 2pm • Guided Garden Tours
Take a closer look at our native herbs, plants, and trees, and learn about their many uses.
Meeting Location: Visitor & Administration (V&A) Building Terrace, in front of the QBG Store

11am – 3pm • Seed Saving Activity
