Celebrate QBG’s blooming Rose Garden and learn to embroider roses onto fabric! Fiber artist, Soraya Navia (@sorayadesignsthings) teaches fundamental embroidery stitches and how to apply them. While enjoying an autumnal cocktail, participants will start off with a tour of QBG’s Rose Garden, then move indoors to complete a stitching sampler, learn tips and tricks, and embroider a frameable rose to bring home. Pinhole Camera Workshop with Nancy Paredes

Experience the magical beginnings of photography by building your own pinhole camera from recyclable material with Nancy Paola Paredes of QBG's current art exhibit, Marbles in the Valley. By learning to use light and exposure, participants will photograph the Garden with their built cameras and develop their exposures into fixed images. Learn how worms work their magic, converting kitchen scraps into a rich organic soil amendment. In this hands-on workshop, the NYC Compost Project will introduce composting, demonstrate how to set up an indoor worm bin, and go over basic worm care.
