Sustainable Landscapes-V+A

Native plants are growing around the V+A Terrace, which provide places for wildlife to rest. They also help absorb rainfall and prevent flooding.

To make the wall, wet concrete was poured between boards made of native eastern hemlock. No trees were killed to make this wall!

The canopy pictured here captures rainwater and guides it towards the lowest point. During a storm a waterfall forms at this point as the water is collected below by the Biotope.

Much of the steel used in this building is recycled. Including the columns inside and outside.

The western red cedar siding on the building’s exterior walls is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
