The Green Roof keeps the building warm in winter and cool in summer.
Sand Coreopsis (Coreopsis lanceolata) carpet the Green Roof in early June.
Echinacea, Aster, and Rudbeckia seed heads are left through the winter as a food source and habitat for wildlife.
Because the soil on the Green Roof is only about six
inches deep, no trees can live here. But the Green Roof
still provides food for birds, butterflies, and other animals.
