QBG Volunteer Application
Queens Botanical Garden (QBG) is a wonderful place for volunteers to contribute to the community, form new friendships, learn new skills and have fun. Volunteers at the Garden can gain new experience or expand existing skills. Whether you like getting your hands dirty in the soil, prefer office work, or savor the excitement of special events, there are volunteer opportunities for every interest.
Volunteers are interviewed and placed accordingly to the Garden's needs and training is provided.

GARDENERS - Can you help beautify the Garden? Weeding, clipping, raking and more with wonderful people -- in lovely surroundings. Once a week, every Monday, Wednesday or Saturday from 10 am to 1.00 pm. Bring clippers and gardening gloves if possible.
GREETERS – Welcome visitors to the Garden and enhance the QBG experience.
SPECIAL EVENTS – Let us match your skills and interests to the wonderful events and celebrations held throughout the year.
DEPARTMENT VOLUNTEER ASSISTANTS –Volunteers and QBG staff work side by side to expand QBG’s role as the outstanding environmental education resource with programs for school groups and the community.
QBG encourages youth volunteers ages 14 to 17 for the following opportunities for spring and summer 2010:
Garden Greeters Assist Visitor Services with the goal of providing a positive visitor experience.
Horticulture Assisting gardeners maintain various outdoor gardens and indoor greenhouse; watering, propagating, planting
Children’s Garden Supervising children, ages 5-12, grow and harvest fruits and vegetables; Interact with children in outdoor and indoor activities. Also assist with Children’s Garden maintenance including transplanting, weeding & cultivating, watering, etc.
Education Assist instructors with classes; prepare and break down materials; monitor inventory; maintain Education Greenhouse
Compost Assist Compost Team with community outreach; update database; help promote Compost Project
Training is provided for all volunteer opportunities.
