Children's Garden
HSBC Children’s Garden at Queens Botanical Garden is a hands-on program for children, ages 5-12, that teaches about plants, gardens, and nature while kids have fun playing in a beautiful environment.
FALL REGISTER ONLINE FOR THE HSBC CHILDREN'S GARDEN
The leaves changing color doesn't signal the end of discovery at QBG. In the fall session, children learn seasonal gardening, and how to: put a garden to sleep, plant garlic bulbs, harvest tomatoes, peppers and spinach - yum! Learn about nutrition by making scrumptious food from our harvested crops, identify animals such as QBG's resident red tail hawk.
September 11 through October 2 (Saturdays only), 9:30am to Noon Fee: $160, $144 for members
SPRING
Each spring, children's imaginations and learning blossom as they: plant vegetables and flowers, harvest lettuce, spinach and radishes, visit the bee garden and design their own fantasy garden space, make mother's day cards with paper they've seeded with parsley and basil.
Spring 2011 dates to be announced soon! SUMMER When summer arrives, the fun and learning heats up, as children: make salads from their spring vegetable plantings, bake cookies in a solar oven and learn about climate and environment, raise and release butterflies, plant delicious summer vegetables, conduct scavenger hunts, build planters and terrariums and lots more!
Summer 2011 dates to be announced soon! Questions? 718-886-3800, ext. 230 or email rwolf@queensbotanical.org
